Who Can Apply For Bank Exams In 2013 [New Rules Explained]

Exams leading to government jobs have always attracted Indian youth for long.Though secured career is the primary reason, relaxations offered in eligibility conditions enabled many to turn government employees.But applying forupcoming bank jobs & exams shall become tough from next year with latest amendments.

A committee under the chairmanship ofDr.A.K.Khandelwal (former MD,Bank of Baroda) was setup in the year 2009 to study the HR issues in public sector banks

The submitted report contained 105 recommendations & most of it was accepted by Govt. Of India.A notification was also sent to all public sector banks in October 2011 for executing the aforesaid.

In the same year, common written examination (CWE) for banking jobs were introduced. But candidates were not happy with the selection process & many complaints were forwarded to various officials.

Govt Initiates Makeover!

The Ministry of Finance finally took stock of the situation & after consultations with stakeholders, decided to bring in changes – not only in selection procedures but also from the application stage.

In a communiqué dated Oct 2012 the ministry gave its approval for certain measures (published on their website) 

Here are the new eligibility conditions for those looking to register for IBPS common bank exams.

Age limit for clerical & PO cadre shall be the same. Minimum: 20; Maximum: 28 years(relaxation in max. age for sc/st/obc/PWD/EXS as per current rules) The min. educational qualification for clerk: Graduation & for PO`s: Graduation with 60% Literacy in computers in compulsory for both cadres.The applicant must either have a certificate in computer operations OR should have comp.sci./IT as a subject in school/college.

Although aspirants could be surprised, the criteria are inline with the recommendations of khandelwal committee.

When is the Implementation?

With new criterion in place the next question in mind would be related to its enforcement.

On raising this query to a senior official at IBPS, he said ‘This is a government directive & we will abide by it.’

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection had invited applications for the forthcomingclerical common exam with these recent eligibilities only. So it has already come into force.

LIC Apprentice Development Officers Recruitment – 5000 Posts

Apprentice Development Officer (ADO) – 5201 posts (across 8 zones)

Appointments could be offered in offices located at below divisions.

Initially ADO`s shall be paid monthly stipend of Rs.19,165.On successful completion of apprenticeship period, you would be appointed as Probationary Development Officer with total emoluments of approx. Rs.22,065/ month.

Online test on February 2 & 3, 2012

Who are eligible:

There aren't many conditions specified by LIC for eligibility.They have kept it simple,

* Aged between 21 – 30 years as on 1.11.2012 (max. age is sc/st:35 & 33 for obc)

* Should have completed degree (preference shall be given for MBA marketing or PG diploma in marketing)

Though experience is not compulsory, applicants (except LIC employees & agents) with min.2 yrs exp.in insurance field will be given preference.

Selection Process:

An online objective test of 2 hrs duration will be conducted in two papers only –

1. Test of Reasoning & Numerical Ability
2. G.K,Current affairs & English language

It is necessary to pass in each paper & secure minimum marks (set by LIC after exam) to qualify for personal interviews.Negative marks shall be awarded for each wrong answer.

Work Profile:

A candidate chosen for Apprentice Development Officer (ADO) job in LIC will have to impart but not limited to the following duties,

• Recruit agents, train them in selling life insurance products & supervise their performance
• To increase the sales made by these agents by providing necessary training
• Provide after sales support to policyholders (such as helping them make ontime payments, renewals, claims etc)
• Travel within the allotted area

Selected individuals are to execute a bond agreeing to stay with LIC for 4 years or pay Rs.25000 incase of quitting the company.

While there is no application fee for SC/ST, candidates from other categories have to pay Rs.500 at any State bank of India branches & collect the receipt.The fees should be paid within 3 days only from 2nd day of registering online.

2 days after fee payment, SMS/Email will sent as confirmation & applicants may also take a reprint of their application (updated with fee details) after 3 days.

IBPS Clerk Exam 2012 Pattern, Topics to Prepare & Books

The much expected results of PO & RRB exams might have left many bank job aspirants disappointed over their inability to qualify. Rather than feeling dejected over negative results, candidates should remain positive.Because its time to prepare for IBPS clerk common examwhich is expected in the month of December 2012.

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection will close registrations for 2nd clerical common exam on November 5 giving ample time for applicants to get ready for the d-day.

This CWE gains importance with some major changes such as online test & common interviews being introduced by IBPS.

As said earlier, the mode of examination will be online – you need not shade circles in OMR sheets but would have click the correct answer for question displayed on computer screen.

Private Banks have already employed online tests for their recruitments & going by that, candidates should have options to move back & forth and complete questions left unanswered before final submission.

 

200 for 200

The structure of question paper is same; have to attend 200 objective type questions in

5 sections for a total of 200 marks within 2 hours (120 minutes)

While each correct option fetches one mark, 0.25 shall be reduced for every wrong answer.There is no penalty if you choose to leave a question.

To minimize the effect of negative marks on your total score, take calculated risks

What to prepare for IBPS clerical common exam? is one of the frequently asked query by applicants who are new for banking examinations. Unlike few other competition tests, IBPS does not provide syllabus for their PO or clerk CWE.

Since ms-office software is widely used in banks, checkout its features by working on it if possible.

Reasoning & Numerical ability: It would be better if you allot good amount of time in preparing for these 2 sections. The topics to cover shall include,

• Syllogisms
• Venn diagrams
• Number series
• Work, Time, Speed & distance problems
• Profit & loss, Ratios, Simple interest etc.,

Try practicing with as many problems possible for you to get acquainted with types, formulas & shortcuts.

Though common interviews shall be conducted for all qualifiers your CWE scores will carry maximum weightage in final selection
